  1. 1.  Bethia Cooley was born on 16 Sep 1643 in Springfield, Non-County Area 1, Massachusetts Bay Colony; died on 9 Dec 1711 in Springfield, Hampshire Co, Massachusetts.

    Notes:

Bethia Cooley's birthdate is the benchmark for Benjamin Cooley's appearance in the New World. Yet, Springfield was not an immigration port for English migrators so a considerable length time had to elapse from Benjamin Cooley's landing in Massachusetts (parobably Salem) to the time he gave birth to Bethia in Springfield. Included in this span of time would have been Benjamin and Sarah's marriage and their admission to a church. Debrett Ancestry Research, in a 1987 report for the Cooley Family Association, concluded they were not married before they left England.

Bethia married Henry Chapin on 5 Dec 1664 in Massachusetts. Henry (son of Samuel Chapin and Living) was born about 1629-1630 in England; was christened on 25 Jan 1629/30 in Berry Pomeroy, Devonshire, England; died on 16 Aug 1718 in Springfield, Hampshire Co, Massachusetts.
