2. | ![]() ![]() Notes: [Henry's] widow survived him about five weeks; she died July 7 [1655], and her will, dated July 5, is attested by her mark. The explanation of this, which we find in one of our old manuscripts, is unquestionably authentic: "Their wills were made just before their deaths, and Mrs. Wolcott, not being well enough to write her name, only made her mark." Elizabeth married Henry Wolcott about Jan 1605/06 in Lydeard St Lawrence, Somersetshire, England. Henry (son of John Wolcott and Living) was born about 1578 in Tolland, Somersetshire, England; was christened on 6 Dec 1578 in Lydeard St Lawrence, Somersetshire, England; died on 30 May 1655 in Windsor, Connecticut Colony. 3. | John Wolcott ![]() Notes: John Wolcott, b. 1607, was baptized at Lydiard St. Lawrence in 1607. John remained in England when his family emigrated to America. A letter to Henry Wolcott, Jr., from his cousin in England dated 1631 says: "Your Brother John continues in his old course of living", whatever that means. Henry Wolcott, John's father, in a deed dated 1642 refers to his second son, Henry, as his oldest son. |

Notes: Elizabeth is buried in the Springfield Cemetery in Springfield Massachusetts. The original burial grounds was at the riverfront behind the Old First Church. To make way for a railroad, 2024 bodies were moved to the cemetery on the hill in 1849 and placed in a mass grave. The main entrance to the cemtery is on Maple St but the graves are at the Pine Street entrance. Most of this information is found in the Cooley Genealogy by Mortimer E. Cooley published in 1941. Elizabeth married Daniel Cooley on 8 Dec 1680 in Springfield, Hampshire Co, Massachusetts. Daniel (son of Benjamin1 Cooley and Sarah (wife of Ensign Benjamin Cooley) [?]) was born on 2 May 1651 in Springfield, Non-County Area 1, Massachusetts Bay Colony; died on 9 Feb 1726/27 in Springfield, Hampshire Co, Massachusetts.
