8. | Joseph Diggins (4.Jeremiah3, 2.Mary2, 1.Elizabeth1) was born on 2 Apr 1710 in Hartford County, Connecticut Colony; died on 9 Feb 1791 in Windsor, Hartford Co, Connecticut Colony. Notes:
He was a pupil of Rev. Timothy Edwards. He served as Sergt. under Capt. Ebenezer Grant, upon an "Expedition into ye Frontiers" Dec 19, 1745 and was commissioned Ensign, Oct 1749. It is said that Gov. William Franklin was quartered at his house under a juvenile guard during his captivity.
In 1740 Diggins had his children baptized by Rev. Mr. Woodbridge of the East Hartford Church but was later received back into the East Windsor Church.
Joseph married Elizabeth Stoughton in 17 Dec1735 in Somers, Tolland Co, Connecticut. Elizabeth (daughter of William Stoughton) was born on 2 Oct 1711 in Hartford County, Connecticut Colony; died on 22 Dec 1769 in Windsor, Hartford Co, Connecticut Colony. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
