Notes: Obituary The body of Nels Hawkinson, who passed away last Wednesday was returned to Akron [Colorado] last Thursday evening and remained at the Yeamans Mortuary until Sunday when funeral services were held in the Otis Presbyterian Church, with the pastor, Rev. W.G. White in charge. Interment was made in the Otis Cemetery beside his wife. Nels Hawkinson was born in Sweden August 22, 1861 and passed away September 24, 1941, at the age of 80 years, 1 month, and 2 days. He came to American when he was 23 years old [year of immigration: 1888] and was employed by the Burlington Railroad in Plattsmouth and Havelock, Nebraska, for many years He was united in marriage to Hannah Franeson at Omaha, Nebraska, June 4, 1887 and t this union four children were born, three of whom survive. He came to Colorado in 1910 and settled on a homestead near what is now DeNova...south of Otis. He was a member of the Swedish Lutheran Church...Mrs. Hawkinson preceded him in death 10 years ago, and a son died in infancy. He is survived by two sons, Fred of Akron and Carl of Westminster [Colorado], two daughters, Ann Rogers of Westminster and Hilda Hawkinson of Prophetstown, Illinois.
