Generation: 1

  1. 1.  Lucy Rice was born on 14 Nov 1786 in Probably Greenwch (daughter of Peter Rice and Margaret Cooley); died on 15 Nov 1802 in Pittsford, Rutland Co, Vermont.

Generation: 2

  1. 2.  Peter Rice was born on 18 Jul 1748 in Probably Guilford , Massachusetts Bay Company; died on 24 Mar 1814 in Pittsford, Rutland Co, Vermont.

    Notes:

Peter Rice had bought land in Pittsford as early as 1780 coming there from Guilford, then in northern territory owned by Massachusetts Bay Company. After the death of Margaret Cooley's first husband, Job Winslow Sr in 1785, Peter and Margaret were married in the same year. The next year their first child, Lucy, was born, possibly in Greenwich. However, by the time of their second child's birth, Peter Jr in 1789, they had migrated to Pittsford, Republic of Vermont. Peter and Margaret had unusually bad luck with their children. Lucy died aged 16, Peter Jr died aged 20, Caleb died aged 20, Infant son was stillborn, and Naomi died aged 2. It appears out of six children only Anthony C. lived long enough to marry and have a family. His death date is unknown.

Peter married Margaret Cooley on 1 Apr 1786 (Intention) in Greenwich, Hampshire Co, Massachusetts. Margaret (daughter of Benjamin4 Cooley and Mary Needham) was born on 13 Nov 1757 in Greenwich, Hampshire Co, Massachusetts; died on 29 Dec 1808 in Pittsford, Rutland Co, Vermont. 2. 3.  Margaret Cooley was born on 13 Nov 1757 in Greenwich, Hampshire Co, Massachusetts (daughter of Benjamin4 Cooley and Mary Needham); died on 29 Dec 1808 in Pittsford, Rutland Co, Vermont.

    Notes:

Job and Margaret lived in Greenwich and their children were born there. One son, Thomas, came to Pittsford Vermont about 1802 but he left in 1818. Another son, Job Jr, came to Pittsford in 1809 and bought land from his stepfather, Peter Rice.
After Job Winslow Jr's untimely death in 1785 aged 31, Margaret was remarried to Peter Rice in Greenwich in 1786.

    Notes:

Benjamin4 Cooley was born 5 Nov 1701, probably in the long meddowe precinct of Springfield, Hampshire County, Massachusetts. He was twice married, first to Elisabeth Charles, second to Mary Needham.
In Mass Vital Records microfilmed by LDS Church there is an entry: #9-Greenwich p36 "Mary daughter of Benjn Cooley by Mary his wife was born Dec 24, 1768". This is highly unlikely since there was already a Mary Cooley b. 1750, d. 1769. While the first Mary died young in 1769 and sometimes families, who lost a child renamed a later child the same name, there is overlap here.
