Now here's a compilation by Sharyl Farrell, Duck Creek Pioneers, Compiled by Sharyl Ferrall; for all who have ancestors settling Duck Creek Valley, OH 1800's 9/10/1999 [last up-dated 1/26/02] Elizabeth Hull Kane Barnhouse, b. July 4, 1813 in Huntingdon Cty PA removed to Jefferson Cty, OH in 1830. After her marriage to Jacob Barnhouse on May 9, 1839 in Harrison Cty they moved to Noble Cty. In an articular in the Caldwell OH newspaper on July 4 1885, she was interviewed and said her home was in Belle Valley. She was a widow before 1850. [I'm sorry, I didn't record who sent this to me. (Research):In a communication on 12/30/2010 with jnnfrsnell1 who owns the Ancestry database Horrum Family Tree I have changed this Kay Barnhouse entry for Jacob Barnhouse's wife from Elizabeth Hull Cane to Elizabeth Jane Hull and have used the vital data from that family tree.

This is wrong, back to Elizabeth Cane from Ohio marriages.

George Barnhouse Will (Jefferson County Ohio Wills page 472) "I, George Barnhouse, of the County of Jefferson in the State of Ohio, do make and publish my last Will and Testament in manner and form following. First it is my will that my funeral expenses, and all my just debts shall be fully paid. Second, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Susannah Barnhouse, the plantation on which we now reside, situated in Springfield Township, County and State aforesaid, containing one hundred and forty acres, being part of the South East quarter of Section 22, Township 11, Range 4. During her natural life if she sees proper to hold the same and all livestock, horses, cattle, sheep, and hogs with all the personal property to dispose of the same at pleasure. And at the decease of my said wife, all the property hereby divised or bequeathed to her as aforesaid or so much thereof as may then remain unexpended, to be sold at public sale and the proceeds to be divided amongst by lawful heirs equally except my oldest son Benjamin Barnhouse, who shall not have as much as either of the other lawful heirs because he has already one hundred dollars more than any of the other heirs. Therefore, each and every one of my other lawful heirs or their heirs, shall first receive one hundred dollars each, after my said wife's death. And lastly, I hereby constitute and appoint my said wife, Susannah Barnhouse, and Jacob Smith of the township, county and state aforesaid to be the Executors of this my last will and testament. In testimony thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty-third day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty three.

Early American Marriages: Virginia to 1850 her name is Susannah Fox. On her gravestone her given name is spelled "Susannah". Therefore, to be consistent I will retain the Germanic spelling of both given and surname.

I have settled on "Rosina" as her given name because baptismal records of the New Jerusalem Church, York County, Pennsylvania show this spelling in 1785 when their first child, George was born. Note that "Rosannah" is used on her gravestone. The language of origin of 'Rosina' is Germanic and Latin but Rosannah is not a variant form of the name. Rosina has not been used as a girl's given name since 1934 in the U.S.
