(1) Letter Merhoff (Wayne Co NY Historian) to Arnold, May 29, 1962 (my ref nr SH10). At the cemetery at Hunt's Corners, Wayne County, New York, Merhoff observed a gravestone on 26 May 1962 as follows: In memory of Mehitable wife of James Sears who died March 12, 1826 in the 45th year of her age
(2) From "Rose Neighborhood Sketches, Wayne County, New York" by Alfred S. Roe, 1893. Page 395 "Epitaphs from the Burial Grounds of Rose and Adjoining Towns; "In copying these inscriptions...I have secured the facts in the briefest and most comprehensive manner possible...All epitaphs were taken in the Rose and other cemeteries...". Page 418 as follows: Mehitable, wife of James Sears, March 11, 1826; 45th year.
(3) Chas Madison Sears Papers (SE29 p 3) states death date 12 Mar 1824
(4) Letter Reynolds to Arnold dated 29 Mar 1962 (SE65) states death date 12 Mar 1824 but not clear where he obtained the info; some indication that it was from "Seneca Co. records both of land and estate" |
