- The Sutherland sisters were born in the town of Cambria NY, on what is known as the Sutherland farm, near the village of Lockport, Niagara County, New York, a few miles east of Niagara Falls. They were members of the Protestant Episcopal Church, having been confirmed by Bishop Cox, of Buffalo, and when at home were under the pastoral care of Doctor Foster Eley, Director of Grace Church, Lockport City.
