  • Notes
    • Bethia Cooley's birthdate is the benchmark for Benjamin Cooley's appearance in the New World. Yet, Springfield was not an immigration port for English migrators so a considerable length time had to elapse from Benjamin Cooley's landing in Massachusetts (parobably Salem) to the time he gave birth to Bethia in Springfield. Included in this span of time would have been Benjamin and Sarah's marriage and their admission to a church. Debrett Ancestry Research, in a 1987 report for the Cooley Family Association, concluded they were not married before they left England.
